Swedish Meatball Noodle Bake

Meatballs, noodles, and sauce are the three main components of this bake. The meatballs are the heart of the dish; they are prepared with ground beef, breadcrumbs, an egg, an onion, and a touch of nutmeg.

Before nestling the meatballs into a bed of tender egg noodles, brown the meatballs first. Searing the meatballs brings added texture and so much flavor to this bake.

  • Almond flour (or almond meal) is a great gluten-free alternative to breadcrumbs.
  • Beef broth made only with beef and water is gluten-free. However, other brands of beef broth may contain gluten-contaminating ingredients, so make sure to always check the ingredients when buying.
  • Always check the ingredients to make sure that the Worcestershire sauce you are buying does not contain gluten. As an alternative, you can use red vinegar or balsamic vinegar combined with tamarind paste.
  • Gluten-free egg noodles. Barilla fettuccine is gluten-free, and fettuccine is a great substitute for egg noodles.
